National Metallurgical Laboratory (NML), Jamshedpur, is a constituent establishment of the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR). As a leading R&D organization in the areas of minerals, metals and materials, NML's research interests include: minerals processing, extraction of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, utilization of mineral and industrial wastes, cleaner and sustainable metals production technology, alloy development, forming and formability, corrosion, surface engineering, mathematical and physical modeling of metallurgical processes and materials, advanced materials and material tailoring, mechanical behavior of materials, non-destructive evaluation, integrity evaluation of critical industrial components, etc. NML also undertakes activities to ameliorate and create awareness on issues related to health, environment, rural technology and sustainable development in the domain of its expertise. NML is well equipped in terms of infrastructural, laboratory and research facilities. NML has a dedicated workforce, having a wide spectrum of expertise and resolute commitment, engaged in time-bound projects of industrial significance, many of which are of national and international importance.
In order to supplement and strengthen its scientific workforce with personnel of high degree of motivation and self driven aptitude in the domain of Research & Development, applications in the prescribed form from bonafied Indian nationals are invited for the following Scientific positions in various divisions of the laboratory.

Applications complete in all respects, supported by attested copies of certificates of educational qualifications, marksheets, experience certificates, community/category certificate (SC/ST/OBC/PWD etc.) along with crossed D.D. for Rs.100/- valid for at least six months drawn in favour of the Director, National Metallurgical Laboratory, Jamshedpur - 831 007 payable at State Bank of India, NML Branch, Jamshedpur should be sent to The Administrative Officer, National Metallurgical Laboratory, Jamshedpur - 831 007 so as to reach on or before 17.12.2010. Candidates belonging to SC/ST/PWD categories and departmental candidates (CSIR Labs./Inst.) need not pay any application fee. The candidates must also send a soft-copy of the synopsis page only, duly filled in all respects, by e-mail to hrg@nmlindia.org before the stipulated last date of receipt of application.
GENERAL CONDITIONS :-
1. Total number of posts may vary.
2. Applications should be accompanied by copies of all certificates, mark sheets and documentary proof in support of date of birth, educational/professional qualifications and experience including D.D. indicating clearly the Advertisement Number and Post Code on the top of the envelope containing application.
3. The posts carry usual allowances as admissible under the Central Government Rules as applicable to the CSIR. Higher initial pay may be considered for meritorious candidates.
4. The candidates selected will be governed by the provisions of the New Pension Scheme as introduced by the Govt. of India w.e.f. 01-01-2004 to the extent made applicable by CSIR to its employees; instead of C.C.S. (Pension) Rules, GPF Rules etc.
5. Applications from candidates working in Government departments, public sectors, autonomous organisations and Government funded research agencies will be considered only if forwarded through proper channel and with no objection certificate that the applicant will be relieved within one month of receipt of the appointment order. However, advance copy of the application may be submitted before the closing date and no objection certificate may be submitted at the time of interview. Applications routed through proper channel should reach this Laboratory, at the earliest.
6. Only those candidates who in the opinion of the laboratory authorities suit the institutional requirements will be called for interview. Mere fulfilling the minimum prescribed qualifications and experience will not vest any right in a candidate for being called for interview. The laboratory reserves the right to call for the interview only those candidates who in its opinion are likely to be suitable and will not entertain any correspondence in respect of other applications.
7. Besides Head Quarters at Jamshedpur, selected candidates may be posted to NML field station located at Chennai.
8. Relaxation in age for Ex-service man/PWD category candidates shall be admissible as per Govt. of India/CSIR rules.
9. Relaxation in age limit up to 5 years may be allowed to Council/ Government/ Autonomous Bodies/ Public Sector employees in accordance with the instructions and orders issued by the Government of India/CSIR from time to time in this regard.
10. Relaxation in age limit, qualification and/or experience may be allowed by the Competent Authority in case sufficient number of candidates possessing requisite qualification and/or experience are not likely to be available to fill up the posts.
11. Relaxation in the upper age limit will be admissible to the residents of the state of Jammu & Kashmir in accordance with the "Residents of the state of J&K (relaxation of upper age limit for recruitment to Central Civil Services and posts) 1977 " and amendments made thereto.
12. The period of experience wherever prescribed should be in the relevant discipline/area of work and it shall be counted with effect from the date of acquiring the prescribed essential educational/professional qualifications required for the posts.
13. The date for determining the age limit/experience/qualifications shall be the closing date prescribed for receipt of application.
14. Travelling allowance by second class by shortest route will be paid to the candidates called for interview from the place of residence or from the actual departing station to the place of interview whichever is nearer.
15. Canvassing in any form and/or bringing in any influence, political or otherwise, will be treated as disqualification for the post.
16. No interim queries will be entertained.
