Invitation for concept notes on research projects for support under NFBSFARA:
5th August 2010The Indian Council of Agricultural Research invites Concept Notes for projects on research proposals on basic, strategic and applied research in the frontier areas of sciences that can provide solutions to existing, emerging and anticipated problems of any branch of agriculture.
Research projects will be selected through an open competitive process in two stages: the first stage, selection will be on the basis of Concept Notes on viable and innovative research projects and in the second stage selection will be among the Full Proposals developed on the selected Concept Notes.
- Priority areas for research
The proposed projects should be logically linked with one of the priority areas listed in the web site given above. - Who can submit a proposal
The proposals of duration between three and five years can be submitted by any institution or a group of institutions: public, CGIAR, private, or civil society with proven capacity for research in the area concerned. Multi-institutional projects will be encouraged. Any one institution can participate in not more than three proposals of which not more than two will be as the project leader. - Components of expenditure to be funded
Please see the above website for the details on types of expenditure eligible of funding. Multi-institutional project proposals for comprehensive and multidimensional problem solving; costing not less than Rs. 2 crore will be preferred. The cost should be justifiable. - Submission of Concept Note:
- Concept Notes must be submitted on-line only at the web site given above.
- Submission deadline for proposals is 2400hrs of 31st August 2010.
- All submissions received will be automatically acknowledged by e-mail.

For the project proposals approved by the EC, the Secretariat will issue the sanction letters in a prescribed format after signing of MOUs wherever needed. The MOU will also have clear-cut provisions of sharing IP mutually agreed by the partners on the basis of IPR Policy/ guidelines of ICAR (Refer ICAR 2006: ICAR Guidelines for Intellectual Property Management and Technology Transfer/ Commercialisation).
